Bacon Green Beans

Ingredients

  • 4-5 strips of bacon(you can use turkey to makeit a little bit healthier but the taste will suffer)
  • 1-1 1/2 pounds fresh green beans.
  • 2 tbs crushed garlic
  • 2 tbs butter
  • 1/2 small red onion.

Method

Step 1

In a skillet cook the bacon. You'll want to cook it until it is almost done. It needs to still be limp because it will continue to cook later.

Step 2

In a steamer, you need to steam the green beans for about 5 minutes.

Step 3

In the mean time go ahead and chop up your red onion into small pieces. Once the bacon is done, take it out of the skillet and chop it or pull it apart into small pieces. Keep the grease from the bacon in the pan.

Step 4

Return the bacon to the pan along with the onion, garlic, butter and green beans. Mix it all together.

Step 5

Let is slowly cook on medium to low heat with a lid over the skillet for approx 10 minutes. You'll want to stir it every couple of minutes.

Step 6

Now, remove the lid and turn up the heat to a medium high heat. You want to stir every 20-30 seconds and cook at this level for 2-3 minutes. This is done to just crisp up the green beans and the bacon.
