Ingredients

  • Sourdough bread (sliced)
  • Butter spread
  • Sliced American cheese
  • Grated parmesan Cheese
  • Optional ingredients
  • Bacon (precooked)
  • Sliced tomato

Method

Step 1

Preheat your skillet on the stove top medium to low heat. Also, turn on the broiler on your oven.

Step 2

For each sandwich you’ll need two slices of the sourdough bread. Butter one side of each slice. Place the buttered side of one slice of bread down on the skillet.

Step 3

Cover the unbuttered side of the bread with sliced American cheese (this will often take about 1 and a half slices). Now you have the option to add the bacon and tomatoes here but honestly it’s fine without it.

Step 4

Place the second slice of buttered bread on top with the butter side up. Flip the sandwich over after approx 2 minutes and let the other side cook in the skillet for approx 2 minutes.

Step 5

Take the sandwich out of the skillet. The cheese should be mostly melted in the center and the butter on the outside of the sandwich should also be melted.

Step 6

Place the sandwich on a cookie sheet. On the side facing up, sprinkle on some Parmesan Cheese, Place the cookie sheet into the broiler. Keep an eye on it so that it doesn’t burn.

Step 7

The side with the Parmesan Cheese should start to toast nicely and the cheese will melt. Once you have a nice golden color remove from the broiler. Flip over the sandwich and do the same on the other side.
