- Fresh oysters in the shell
- A grill
Wash the oysters in the shell until clean. Keep packed on ice in a cooler near the grill.
Place the entire oyster in the shell on the grill, close the top of the grill, when oyster juices begin to bubble, the grill will sizzle. Soon after you hear a slight pop and the oyster will crack open a bit.
Remove the oyster from the grill with a heavy glove, use a knife to pop the shell open and cut the oyster loose from the shell.
Eat the oyster standing at the grill with a cold beverage in hand.
